“Being the cradle of democracy and a… PIG. On Greek democracy and its symbolisms.”

Classical Studies’ own  Profs. Hans Beck and Tassos Anastassiadis are giving a short talk on Greek Democracy for part of a Brown-bag lunch series on WHAT’S GOING ON IN GREECE and… WHY DOES IT MATTER?

The talk will be on Nov. 24th from 12 – 1:30 in LEA808.

The Phrixos B. Papachristidis chair in Modern Greek and Greek-Canadian Studies will be hosting in 2011-2012 a series of events on Greece upon the occasion of the 190th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence. Given the current Greek debt / EU crisis the chair initiates a Brown-bag lunch interdisciplinary discussion series open to anyone interested in understanding the current crisis. A short presentation of a specific aspect of the crisis by 2 scholars from different fields followed by an open discussion with the public.
