CSA Executive Positions
All CSA executive positions include attendance at weekly meetings and departmental events.
President:
Duties
- General spokesperson/go-to person for CSA
- Coordinates executive meetings and sets agenda
- Liaises with AUS, HSA, and the History and Classics department/faculty
- Attends monthly History departmental meetings and Classical Studies Committee meetings
- Organizes Inter-University Classics Colloquium with Concordia and UdeM
Skills useful
- Quick and competent at responding to e-mails
- Comfortable with interacting with professors
- Good at organization and delegation
- Experience with running the CSA or other departmental associations
VP Finance:
Duties
- Oversee fiscal management of the CSA
- Create and update general budget with the President
- Create event-specific budgets with VP Events
- Write funding applications and process check requisitions
- Liaise with AUS VP Finance
Skills useful
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable with basic arithmetic
- Very good at managing deadlines
- Experience creating and maintaining budgets
VP Internal:
Duties
- Promote communication within the executive board
- Take notes at meetings and create agenda in coordination with the President
- Runs internal operations, e.g. apparel orders, samosa sales, etc.
- Manages use and care of Leacock 817, the Classics lounge
Skills useful
- Extremely organized and efficient
- Good communication/people skills
- Experience in management/administration and human resources
VP External:
Duties
- Attends AUS meetings every other week and reports back to CSA exec
- Primary liaison with AUS
- Assists VP Events in organizing events with other student organizations
Skills useful
- Enjoyment of student politics and working with student government
- Experience with student government organizations, especially AUS
VP Academic:
Duties
- Attends Curriculum Committee meetings
- Coordinates academic activities with VP Events
- Liaises with professors in regards to courses and academic standards
- Keeps CSA exec and constituents apprised of changes to the academic program
Skills useful
- Very comfortable interacting with professors and academic institutions
- Good knowledge of Classics courses and curriculum
- Experience with professional communication
VP Events (2 positions) :
Duties
- Coordinates activities and social events within the CSA and with other organizations
- Works with other execs to plan specific events
- Creates event-specific budgets with VP Finance
- Works with VP Communications to promote events
- Liaises with business and locations for event purposes
Skills useful
- Very good people skills and comfortable interacting with new people
- Self-motivation, organization, and creativity
- Experience planning events especially with AUS/SSMU/McGill
VP Communications:
Duties
- Promote communication between the exec and CSA members
- Create weekly listserv which is primary means of communication with members
- Maintains and updates CSA social media, such as Facebook and our website
- Creates posters and designs for the CSA, events, etc.
- Promotes events in coordination with VP Events
Skills useful
- Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
- Good writing and communication skills
- Comfortable with social media
